Allergen Recall: Sainsbury's Fruit & Honey Seed Mix

Sainsbury's Fruit & Honey Seed Mix
Some packs of Sainsbury's Fruit & Honey Seed Mix contain almonds and cashews, making them a serious health hazard to those with an allergy to nuts.
Serious allergies can lead to anaphylactic shock, which is deadly if immediate treatment is not given...
Severe Food Allergy
A food allergy is caused when the body mistakenly creates the antibody Immunoglobulin E (IgE) as a reaction to certain foods (such as nuts), or other allergens such as wasp or bee stings, medication (like penicillin) or latex. This triggers a severe immune response, releasing large amounts of histamines and other substances in the body, which can lead to local reactions, like vomiting and diarrhoea, itching or swelling of the skin, sneezing, wheezing and coughing. When the reaction becomes systemic (affecting the whole body), this turns into anaphylaxis, also called anaphylactic shock, which is a life threatening condition and can kill the person within minutes if immediate treatment is not given.
