Allergen Recall: Remeo Gelato Ice Cream
Allergen Recall: Remeo Gelato Ice Cream

Remeo Gelato: No. 6 Stracciatella
Remeo Gelato Ice Cream (No 6: Stracciatella di Bergamo) has been recalled due to a labeling error. The wrong label was put on this ice cream, meaning it is not Stracciatella but instead Pistacchio Sicilano - which contains pistachios.
Pistachios, Nuts and Anaphylaxis
Pistachios are a type of nut, and nuts are one of the 14 allergens that must be clearly highlighted on all the labels.
This ice cream seems suitable for those with an allergy to nuts, because, according to the label, it does not contain any. However, just one little taste of this ice cream - for instance, tasting it with the tip of a tongue - could put a person who is allergic to nuts, in a deadly situation. Their lips can swell, their throat will swell shut, inside their lungs, their bronchii will start swelling as well, and the person won't be able to breathe. This process is called anaphylaxis, or anaphylactic shock , and if medical attention in the form of an adrenaline auto-injector is not given within minutes, the person can die.
So you see how important it is for this ice cream to be recalled!
