AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), often just called defibrillators, are vital in saving people's lives when they are in cardiac arrest.

More and more, there have been Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) so members of the public can come to the rescue when someone has stopped breathing normally.

Unfortunately, it turns out that one of the brands, the LifePak 1000, has an intermittent fault that causes them to not work properly at the moment it matters most... The company has received 34 reports of incidents where the machine shut down unexpectedly during treatment...
