Ever seen a person with type 1 diabetes using an insulin pump changing needle?

Here is the last part of it, putting the new needle in the patient's stomach. Don't worry, that needle is very small!

What temperature should a fridge/chilled storage be?

The law states that 8°C is the MAXIMUM, though 5° is actually the OPTIMUM temperature.

If you're serving food to others, this law will apply to you. And you'll need to check and record those temperatures regularly. If you're not sure about this, check out the Food Standards Agency Safer Food, Better Business for Caterers at http://bit.ly/PT_SFBB_Caterers and Safer Food Better Business for Retail at http://bit.ly/PT_SFBB-Retail.

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in Chesterfield.

Do you know where they are? If so, why don't you add a picture, together with the location, to this thread? Or at least, tell us where they are?

I'll start with a few.

The first picture is one that I spotted near the Cooperative Food store in Elder Way, Chesterfield town centre. The second was near another cooperative store on West Bars, Chesterfield town centre. The third was right outside the library next to the entrance to the Pavement Shopping Centre, but has, unfortunately, been removed a while ago now.

Ever thought about the small changes that can have a huge impact?

Health and Safety is a bit like that - make small changes and the difference can be huge.

A road safety example is below - how likely is it for someone to die if you hit them at 40 miles per hour? Slow down a little, make it 30mph? Slow down a bit more, and at 20, the risk is so much lower.

However, these are adult figures, so change the hazard slightly, and the risk could be higher again...

A fine of £460,000 has been given to a company, after a fire in a retirement home killed one resident.

No proper fire risk assessment had been undertaken, there were no general fire precautions, and no staff training. All this led to a devastating fire which killed one and utterly destroyed the whole home.

Every business, large or small has to undertake fire risk assessments - and for a home like this, there also have to be personal fire safety risk assessments for the residents. General fire precautions go without saying.

Staff training can also make a huge difference - join us in keeping everyone safe by doing our one day, accredited course in Fire Safety.
